Serena Williams Çarşamba günü dördüncü Sony Ericsson karşılaşmasında ezeli rakibi Çek tenisçi Nicole Vaidisova’yı Miami’de gerçekleşen çeyrek final maçında 6-1, 6-4’lük skorlarla yenilgiye uğrattı.
Williams böylece final karşılaşmasında İtalyan oyuncu Tathiana Garbin’le karşılaşacak isim oldu.
Williams yaptığı açıklamada “Tenis oynama stlilim çok gelişti. Bir başka yarı finalde daha oynayacak olmam beni mutlu ediyor.” dedi.
Erkekler kategorisinde ise Sırp tenisçi Novak Djokovic, yarı finalde İspanyol Rafael Nadal’ı 6-3, 6-4’lük skorlarla yenilgiye uğratarak herkesi şaşırttı. 19 yaşındaki oyuncu final maçında İngiliz Andy Murray’le oynayacak.

Team Bulls riders Karl Platt and Stefan Sahm reclaimed the race leaders' yellow jerseys after finishing in second place for a fourth day in succession. They moved to the top of the overall standings ahead of Roel Paulissen and Jakob Fuglsang of Cannondale-Vredestein 1, who could only manage fifth on the day. SUGGESTED VOICEOVER: The remaining teams in the 2007 Cape Epic mountainbike race entered the second half of the event on Wednesday - stage five a 102 kilometre westward ride from Barrydale to Montagu. Stage four winners Multivan Merida Biking Team 1 set the early pace, but Ralph Naef and Jose Hermida's hopes of a second successive victory were hit by a puncture that cost the duo vital seconds. Their attempts to make a quick return to the race were also dashed when Cannondale-Vredestein crashed into the middle of their repair efforts. That left stage one winners Team Bulls at the front of the race, with Team Dolphin Mountainbike joining them in the lead group. Cannondale-Vredestein 1 held the overall lead heading into stage five, but it was their team-mates Kashi Leuchs and Axel Bult of Cannondale-Vredestein who moved into contention for a stage win.Second place came up for grabs when Team Dolphin Mountainbike suffered a puncture, but they would have to settle for third as Dutchmen Bart Brentjens and Rudi van Houts were quickly back on track. Further down the course, Roel Paulissen and Jacob Fugelsang of Cannondale-Vredestein 1 were struggling for pace and they would relinquish the race leaders' yellow jersey at the end of the stage. The day's honours went to Team Dolphin Mountainbike, who crossed the finishing line by Montagu Primary School in a time of three hours, 41 minutes and 32.8 seconds and moved into third place overall. Team Bulls riders Karl Platt and Stefan Sahm of Germany finished 14.1 seconds off the pace, but moved into the overall lead after Cannondale-Vredestein 1 could only manage fifth place.
